Adsorption and photocatalytic desorption toward Cr(vi) over defect-induced hierarchically porous UiO-66-(OH)2: a sustainable approach

Yu-Hang Li et al.

Summary: A facile modulation strategy was adopted to fabricate hierarchically porous HP-UOH-X via introducing benzoic acid with different dosages into the precursor solution of UiO-66-(OH)(2). The formation of hierarchical pores boosted the exposure of -OH groups and the Cr(vi) mass transfer in HP-UOH-X, which vastly enhanced its sorption capacities and sorption rates. The optimal adsorbent (HP-UOH-80) displayed better sorption capacity and faster diffusion rate than those of the pristine UiO-66-(OH)(2) and other HP-UOH-X adsorbents.

Defective SO3H-MIL-101(Cr) for capturing different cationic metal ions: Performances and mechanisms

Xueying Ren et al.

Summary: A facile strategy was adopted to fabricate defective SO3H-MIL-101(Cr) with enhanced vacancies for broad-spectrum adsorption and capture of cationic metal ions. The boosted adsorption performances of the fabricated material toward various metal ions were attributed to the exposure of defective sites, resulting in effective mass transfer. The optimized material showed excellent removal efficiency for all selected metal cations and could be potentially applied in wastewater treatment.

Ultrafast removal of Cr(VI) ions using polyamine modified carbon nanotubes

Dongmei Jia et al.

Summary: Polyamine modified carbon nanotubes (PA-CNTs) were synthesized for the removal of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) from aqueous solution. The PA-CNTs exhibited rapid adsorption rate and high adsorption capacity for Cr(VI), and maintained good adsorption performance in the presence of other substances (e.g., Rhodamine B).

Ag(I) removal and recovery from wastewater adopting NH2-MIL-125 as efficient adsorbent: A 3Rs (reduce, recycle and reuse) approach and practice

Xueying Ren et al.

Summary: In this study, NH2-MIL-125(Ti) was used to remove Ag(I) from simulated silver-plating wastewater. The results showed that NH2-MIL-125 exhibited superior adsorption performance for Ag(I) ions and could potentially be used on a large scale. The influencing parameters of the adsorption process were examined, and the regeneration and utilization of NH2-MIL-125 were explored. This study achieved the goal of reducing, recycling, and reusing resources.

Application of sand particles modified with NH2-MIL-101(Fe) as an efficient visible-light photocatalyst for Cr(VI) reduction

Sadra Sadeghian et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the immobilization of NH2-MIL-101(Fe) on the surface of sand particles for the photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI) using visible light. The presence of suitable functional groups played a crucial role in forming strong chemical bonds and achieving high removal efficiency. Under optimum conditions, the reduction rate of Cr(VI) exceeded 99% with visible light irradiation for 30 minutes.
