Tailoring the size of silver nanoparticles by controlling mixing in microreactors

Yunhu Gao et al.

Summary: This paper presents the first quantitative analysis of the effect of mixing of precursors on the size and distribution of metal nanoparticles synthesized in flow microreactors. By controlling the mixing efficiency in rationally-designed microreactors, silver nanoparticles with a range of sizes are continuously synthesized. The study evaluates the mixing efficiencies of different microreactors and improves the method for simulating residence time distributions.

Chemical Identity of Poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) End Groups Impact Shape Evolution During the Synthesis of Ag Nanostructures

Suprita Jharimune et al.

Summary: Ag nanocubes are mainly synthesized using the polyol method, where PVP plays a crucial role in shaping the nanoparticles. The presence of different end groups on PVP influences the formation of AgNCs, with certain end groups leading to the preferential formation of nanowires. This study provides insights into the role of PVP in nanoparticle shape control and offers a unique opportunity to design nanostructures with specific properties.
