Barriers and facilitators to the implementation of nurse's role in primary care settings: an integrative review

Erica Busca et al.

Summary: This integrative review aimed to identify the barriers and facilitators in implementing the nurse's role in primary care settings. The barriers mainly concern regulatory aspects of the nursing profession, cultural and organizational aspects, training, and the transfer of specific skills previously designated to doctors, while the facilitators are linked to the nurse's adaptability to various care contexts, recognizing the patient's role, and developing multidisciplinary working groups to respond to the population's health needs in primary care settings.
