Neural correlates of anger expression in patients with PTSD

Summary: This study identified two prefrontal regions, the left anterior middle frontal gyrus (aMFG) and the right orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), whose overall functional connectivity was inversely associated with anger in PTSD patients. It was found that low-anger PTSD patients showed enhanced excitability in the left aMFG and increased causal connectivity with visual areas. These results suggest that targeting left aMFG activity may be a potential intervention for anger in PTSD.
