Manipulation of Barley Development and Flowering Time by Exogenous Application of Plant Growth Regulators

Brendan M. Kupke et al.

Summary: Matching flowering time to the optimal period is crucial for maximizing yield in Mediterranean cropping zones. Plant hormonal products, particularly gibberellin (GA), have shown potential for altering development and delaying flowering in barley. Trinexapac-ethyl, a GA inhibitor, was able to delay flowering and extend pre-anthesis phases of development in genetically diverse barley cultivars.

The Vase Life of the Leaves of Selected Perennial Species after the Application of Growth Regulators

Beata Janowska et al.

Summary: The aim of the study was to assess the post-harvest life of the leaves of Hemerocallis x hybrida 'Agata', Limonium latifolium, and Heuchera hybrida 'Chocolate Ruffles' after the application of growth regulators and ionic liquids. The results showed that conditioning the leaves with certain substances can extend their vase life and inhibit protein and chlorophyll degradation. MemT, [Chol][Gib], and [Gib][Ach] were found to be the most effective in prolonging the vase life of Hemerocallis x hybrida 'Agata' leaves.

Cytokinins and Gibberellins Stimulate the Flowering and Post-Harvest Longevity of Flowers and Leaves of Calla Lilies (Zantedeschia Spreng.) with Colourful Inflorescence Spathes

Beata Janowska et al.

Summary: Zantedeschia cultivation started late in Poland due to the high price of rhizomes and the low yield of cut flowers. Global research focuses on using growth regulators to improve the cultivation and post-harvest life of Zantedeschia.

The Role of Cytokinins and Gibberellins on Post-Harvest Longevity of Florists' Greens

Beata Janowska et al.

Summary: This review presents the results of research conducted over the years to improve the post-harvest longevity of florists' greens using growth regulators. The post-harvest longevity of florists' greens is influenced by genetics, growing conditions, and market supply conditions. Growth regulators from the CK and GA groups are used to condition florists' greens.

The Content of Biologically Active Substances in Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora 'Lucifer' Tubers after Treatment with GA3

Beata Janowska et al.

Summary: This study showed that the GA(3) concentrations positively influenced the content of biologically active substances in Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora 'Lucifer' tubers, particularly in terms of antioxidants and polyphenols.

Yield and Quality of Inflorescences in the Zantedeschia albomaculata (Hook.) Baill. 'Albomaculata' after the Treatment with AMF and GA3

Roman Andrzejak et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and gibberellic acid have a positive impact on the flowering and quality of Zantedeschia albomaculata, increasing inflorescence yield and quality. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi particularly positively affected the length of spathes, while the application of gibberellic acid in Zantedeschia plants can be replaced by mycorrhizal inoculation.
