Detachment patterns and impact characteristics of litchi fruit during vibrational harvesting

Yanfei Wang et al.

Summary: The study used a high-speed camera to investigate the motion of litchi fruit during vibrational harvesting and tested the two main reasons for fruit detachment using different frequencies and amplitudes. The results showed that inducing a large tilting angle during shaking was advantageous for achieving high detachment speeds and reducing fruit damage. In addition, appropriate increases in vibration amplitude and frequency can also help minimize fruit damage while maintaining high detachment speeds.

Comparison of a Lightweight Experimental Shaker and an Orchard Tractor Mounted Trunk Shaker for Fresh Market Citrus Harvesting

Coral Ortiz et al.

Summary: The study compared the removal efficiency and operational times of a designed lightweight experimental shaker with an orchard trunk shaker, showing no significant differences in removal efficiency between the two harvesting systems. However, the removal efficiency using the experimental device could be reduced by 40 percent and working time increase by more than 50 percent when access to the main branches was difficult.

Effect of mechanical vibration on postharvest quality and volatile compounds of blueberry fruit

Fangxu Xu et al.

Summary: Mechanical vibration has a significant impact on the quality of blueberry fruit, leading to an increase in ethylene production, respiratory rate, decay incidence, and a decrease in firmness, enzyme activity, and various compound contents. Vibration also improves the relative content of alcohols in blueberries.
