Spatially Resolved Photo-Response of a Carbon Nanotube/Si Photodetector

Daniele Capista et al.

Summary: Photodetectors based on vertical multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) film-Si heterojunctions are successfully achieved by growing MWCNTs on n-type Si substrates covered with Si3N4 layers. Spatially resolved photocurrent measurements demonstrate that higher photo detection is achieved in regions with thinner MWCNT film, resulting in nearly 100% external quantum efficiency. Therefore, a simple method utilizing scotch tape is proposed to tune the thickness and density of the as-grown MWCNT film, thereby enhancing the device photo-response.

Development of directly grown-graphene-silicon Schottky barrier solar cell using co-doping technique

Malik Abdul Rehman et al.

Summary: Chemical doping with polymeric perfluorinated sulfonic acid (PFSA) and nitric acid (HNO3) significantly improved the power conversion efficiency and long-term stability of graphene/Si photovoltaic devices. PFSA doping increased carrier concentration, reduced sheet resistance, and improved the work function of the device. The synergistic effect of co-doping with HNO3 further enhanced the number of active sites and charge separation.

Graphene-Silicon Device for Visible and Infrared Photodetection

Aniello Pelella et al.

Summary: The fabrication of a graphene-silicon junction involves the formation of a parallel metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) structure, which plays an important role in the optoelectronic properties of the device. The graphene-silicon device exhibits rectifying behavior and operates as a photodetector in both photocurrent and photovoltage mode in the visible and infrared spectral regions. The device's electrical behavior is explained by a model based on two parallel and opposite diodes.
