Nonlinear optical response of 9,10-bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene mediated by electron donating and electron withdrawing substituents: A density functional theory approach

Faiz Rasool et al.

Summary: This study reports on the linear polarizability and hyperpolarizability of anthracyl-based organic materials with electron acceptor and electron donor groups. The properties of the compounds were studied using density functional theory, and the results showed that the designed compounds had lower energy gaps and higher hyperpolarizability compared to the reference compound. The designed compounds also showed a red shift in the absorption spectra compared to the reference compound.

Molecular Structure-Optical Property Relationship of Salicylidene Derivatives: A Study on the First-Order Hyperpolarizability

Marcelo G. Vivas et al.

Summary: This study explored the relationship between molecular structure and incoherent second-order nonlinear optical response of four salicylidene derivatives dissolved in DMSO. The results indicated that changes in molecular geometry and the incorporation of Zn(II) ions can significantly impact the nonlinear optical response. Additionally, the increase in the effective pi-electron number and charge transfer induced at the excited state were found to influence the dynamic films' response.
