Allergic Rhinitis: What Do We Know About Allergen-Specific Immunotherapy?

Tadech Boonpiyathad et al.

Summary: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is an IgE-mediated disease, and allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) is an effective treatment that aims to control allergic symptoms by modulating immune responses. However, AIT has drawbacks such as the lengthy treatment period, high cost, systemic allergic reactions, and lack of biomarkers for predicting treatment responders. Researchers are currently exploring adjunctive therapies, vaccine adjuvants, and novel vaccine technologies to address these issues.
