Soil water and salinity dynamics under the improved drip-irrigation scheduling for ecological restoration in the saline area of Yellow River basin

Factors determining yield and nutritive value of maize for silage under tropical conditions

The association between grain and stover yield was found to maximize overall yield, while plant population and maturity also played a significant role. Maize maturity was crucial in determining the nutritive value of forage maize, and maize grown in the first growing season had higher yield and nutritive value compared to the second season.

Spatiotemporal Patterns and Key Driving Factors of Soil Salinity in Dry and Wet Years in an Arid Agricultural Area with Shallow Groundwater Table

Summary: This study investigated the spatial patterns and seasonal dynamics of soil salinity in irrigated agro-ecosystems, as well as the driving factors behind these patterns. The results showed that water movement from deep layers to shallow layers resulted in an increase in soil salinity in the root zone and a decrease in the deep soil during the crop growing season. However, this trend was reversed during the fallow seasons. Crop types, groundwater table depth, and climate conditions played significant roles in the contribution of shallow groundwater to soil salinity.
