Localization of FGF21 Protein and Lipid Metabolism-Related Genes in Camels

Yuan Gao et al.

Summary: The expression pattern of FGF21 and its relationship with lipid metabolism in camels were investigated. FGF21 was widely expressed in camel central nerve tissue and peripheral organs, while absent in lung and gametogenic tissue. FGFR1 was expressed in almost all tissues and cells, indicating their responsiveness to FGF21 and other FGF-mediated signals.

Generation and characterization of stable pig pregastrulation epiblast stem cell lines

Minglei Zhi et al.

Summary: By insights from single-cell transcriptome analysis, a culture medium was developed to establish and maintain stable pluripotent stem cell lines from pig pregastrulation epiblasts, enabling the cells to retain pluripotency features through many passages. The cells were successfully gene-edited and cloned, demonstrating the potential of pig pluripotent stem cells for biological research, animal husbandry, and regenerative medicine.

Gene expression in cell lines from human ameloblastoma immortalized using hTERT and HPV16-E6/E7

Eduardo Luis de Souza Cruz et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate gene expression alterations using different immortalization methods in ameloblastoma cell lines. RNA-seq revealed changes in expression levels of tumor-related genes after immortalization, with the hTERT method showing fewer changes compared to HPV-E6/E7.

Establishment of an immortalized cell line derived from the pupal ovary of Mythimna separata (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) and identification of the cell source

Yan Tong et al.

Summary: The study generated a new cell line, IOZCAS-Myse-1, from pupal ovaries of Mythimna separata, suggesting two possible sources for the cells. The newly established cell line could be a useful platform for replication of viral insecticides, screening of hormone-based insecticides, and immunology research.

Silencing of p53 and CDKN1A establishes sustainable immortalized megakaryocyte progenitor cells from human iPSCs

Masamitsu Sone et al.

Summary: Platelet transfusions are critical for severe thrombocytopenia, but the shortage of donors has led to research on using human pluripotent stem cells to produce platelets. The study found that immortalized megakaryocyte cell lines (imMKCLs) from hPSCs can be used as master cells to supply platelet concentrates, with gene expression profiles revealing a correlation between proliferation arrest and specific inhibitors. Silencing specific genes and overexpressing others was effective in inducing functional platelets from imMKCLs.

hTERT-Driven Immortalization of RDEB Fibroblast and Keratinocyte Cell Lines Followed by Cre-Mediated Transgene Elimination

Nadezhda A. Evtushenko et al.

Summary: The recessive form of dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) is a crippling disease caused by impairments in the junctions of the dermis and the basement membrane of the epidermis. By using ectopic expression of hTERT/hTERT + BMI-1 in primary cells, researchers were able to develop expansible cultures of RDEB fibroblasts and keratinocytes, demonstrating that they retained the properties of their founders and exhibited differences in extracellular matrix content compared to healthy cells. The immortalized cells could potentially serve as tractable models for studying RDEB and have the ability to be reverted closer to their progenitors by switching off the ectopic genes.

Mycoplasmas bovis P48 induces apoptosis in EBL cells via an endoplasmic reticulum stress-dependent signaling pathway

Xiaochun Wu et al.

Summary: This study revealed that M. bovis infection inhibits bovine lung cell growth and increases apoptosis, with P48 protein modulating cell apoptosis by activating ER stress response. The findings contribute to a better understanding of M. bovis infection mechanism and the development of effective anti-mycoplasma strategies.

cAMP/PKA/CREB signaling pathway-me diate d effects of melatonin receptor genes on clock gene expression in Bactrian camel ovarian granulosa cells

S. -Q. Zhao et al.

Summary: The study revealed a correlation between melatonin and biological clock genes in cultured Bactrian camel ovarian granulosa cells, with the expression of clock genes being regulated by melatonin. The findings suggest that the rhythmic regulation of ovarian granulosa cells is consistent with the central circadian clock.
