Combining prostate health index and multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging may better predict extraprostatic extension after radical prostatectomy

Summary: The combination of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) and prostate health index (PHI) can improve the prediction of extraprostatic extension (EPE) in patients undergoing radical prostatectomy (RP) for prostate cancer (PCa). Compared with mpMRI alone or PHI alone, the combination of mpMRI and PHI showed better performance in predicting EPE. Therefore, the combination of mpMRI and PHI can provide more accurate preoperative prediction of EPE and help with preoperative counseling and tailoring the need for nerve-sparing RP.
