A concurrent, deep learning-based computer-aided detection system for prostate multiparametric MRI: a performance study involving experienced and less-experienced radiologists

Sandra Labus et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effect of a deep learning-based computer-aided diagnosis system on experienced and less-experienced radiologists in reading prostate mpMRI. Results showed that DL-CAD assistance increased diagnostic accuracy for both groups of radiologists, with the most significant benefit observed in less-experienced radiologists, enabling them to achieve performances comparable to that of experienced radiologists.

Nicolas Mottet et al.

Summary: The 2020 EAU-EANM-ESTRO-ESUR-SIOG guidelines on screening, diagnosis, and treatment of localized prostate cancer summarize the most recent recommendations for clinical practice, including risk-adapted strategies, medical imaging utilization, biopsy techniques, patient classification, and treatment options. Recommendations include consideration of moderate hypofractionation for intermediate-risk patients and a combination of local treatment with long-term hormonal therapy for cN1 PCa patients.

A Deep Learning Approach to Diagnostic Classification of Prostate Cancer Using Pathology-Radiology Fusion

Pegah Khosravi et al.

Summary: The study developed an artificial intelligence (AI)-based model (AI-biopsy) for early diagnosis of prostate cancer using MR images, achieving high accuracy in distinguishing between benign and cancerous tumors, as well as high- and low-risk tumors. The AI-biopsy provided a data-driven and reproducible method for assessing cancer risk and potentially reducing unnecessary biopsies.

Artificial Intelligence Based Algorithms for Prostate Cancer Classification and Detection on Magnetic Resonance Imaging: A Narrative Review

Jasper J. Twilt et al.

Summary: The review provides an overview of AI applications in prostate cancer diagnosis, focusing on lesion classification and detection, with most research concentrated on classification. Studies revealed significant heterogeneity in cohort sizes and approaches for performance validation. Limited evidence was found for the clinical utility of PCa AI applications, highlighting the need for further validation and experiments.
