Multi-objective planning of energy hub on economic aspects and resources with heat and power sources, energizable, electric vehicle and hydrogen storage system due to uncertainties and demand response

Guodao Zhang et al.

Summary: Currently, microgrids and their optimal use based on energy hubs play a vital role. A microgrid is an energy system that utilizes renewable and fossil generation sources to provide electricity to consumers. The primary objective of this research is to optimize the planning of energy hubs by efficiently distributing products like combined energy and heat sources, hydrogen storage systems, electric vehicles, and controllable loads, considering the importance of demand-side management and renewable energy utilization. The study also focuses on minimizing power generation costs and reducing environmental pollution. Probabilistic modeling is employed due to various sources of uncertainty in the microgrid's economic optimization, such as load, energy price, and solar cell output power. The proposed model includes a hydrogen storage system consisting of an electrolyzer, hydrogen tanks, and a fuel cell. The load-side response program is utilized to flatten the load curve and optimize microgrid usage. A multi-objective random algorithm is proposed to solve this model with different objective functions. The study concludes with the application of the proposed model and method to a sample system under different scenarios, showing significant reductions in operating costs and environmental pollution rates compared to other cases.

The role of EV based peer-to-peer transactive energy hubs in distribution network optimization

Arsalan Najafi et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel bi-level strategic energy trading framework that aims to minimize the operating cost of the distribution network by interacting with peer-to-peer energy hubs and electric vehicles. At the upper level, the distribution system operator minimizes its total cost by purchasing electricity, generating electricity, and selling electricity to the energy hubs. At the lower level, the energy hubs react to the offer price from the upper level and interact with each other. The framework considers the asynchronous storage of electricity between energy hubs.

Day-ahead optimal scheduling of microgrid with considering demand side management under uncertainty

Amirhossein Bolurian et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new model for day-ahead optimal scheduling of microgrid, taking into account the presence of energy storage system, distributed generation resources, and demand side management. The model consists of two layers, clustering and planning, which optimize the operation cost and emission pollution, flatten the electrical demand profile, and select the best solution using fuzzy decision-making. Uncertain behavior of renewable energy sources output, stochastic modeling of electrical loads, and electrical energy price are also incorporated. Numerical results and comparison with other approaches demonstrate the capability of the proposed model in scheduling a uniform microgrid operation.

Quantitative evaluation of renewable-energy-based remote microgrids: curtailment, load shifting, and reliability

Muhammad Shahzad Javed et al.

Summary: This paper optimizes different configurations of renewable energy sources (RES) and flexibility options to study the optimal energy management, cost, curtailment, and reliability level of microgrids. The results show that high utilization of RES is achieved, but the important hours of RES generation differ depending on the type of RES. Load loss scenarios reduce system cost and curtailment. Increasing flexibility reduces off-grid RES cost and the type of RES input source affects system self-sufficiency and energy usage ratio.

Optimal energy management of multi-carrier networked energy hubs considering efficient integration of demand response and electrical vehicles: A cooperative energy management framework

Shubham Tiwari et al.

Summary: This paper presents a cooperative energy management approach for multi-carrier networked energy hubs. The proposed scheme allows energy hubs to exchange power for higher economic and environmental benefits. Based on cooperative game theory, individual energy hubs collaborate to secure maximum profit, which is then distributed fairly among the hubs to ensure economic stability. The proposed model considers a networked system integrating various energy resources to meet electrical and thermal demands, and employs algorithms to address uncertain source behavior. Results show reduced operating costs and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as improved self-reliability of the networked system through cooperation and flexible resources.
