Acute Effects of a High Volume vs. High Intensity Bench Press Protocol on Electromechanical Delay and Muscle Morphology in Recreationally Trained Women

Sandro Bartolomei et al.

Summary: The study compared the acute responses of muscle architecture, electromechanical delay (EMD), and performance in women following a high volume and a high intensity bench press protocol. Results showed that the high volume protocol led to greater acute morphological and neuromuscular changes compared to the high intensity protocol in women, suggesting that evaluations of muscle morphology and electromechanical delay are more sensitive to fatigue.
