Time-course RNA-seq analysis reveals stage-specific and melatonin-triggered gene expression patterns during the hair follicle growth cycle in Capra hircus

Chun Li et al.

Summary: This study utilized RNA sequencing to analyze the gene expression in the hair follicles of Inner Mongolian cashmere goats, revealing seasonal changing genes and stage-specific expression patterns in the hair follicle growth cycle. The research identified signaling pathways promoting hair follicle growth and constructed a network involving lncRNAs interacting with mRNAs. Furthermore, a comparison between control and melatonin-treated groups indicated monthly differentially expressed genes, providing insights into the potential signaling pathways regulated by melatonin during the anagen stage.

The fiber diameter traits of Tibetan cashmere goats are governed by the inherent differences in stress, hypoxic, and metabolic adaptations: an integrative study of proteome and transcriptome

Bingru Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, the differences in protein abundance underlying the fine and coarse cashmere produced by Tibetan cashmere goats were investigated. Through integrated analysis of proteomic and transcriptomic datasets, the major biological variations and genetic mechanisms of cashmere traits in Tibetan cashmere goats were revealed. The findings provide novel insights into breeding strategies for cashmere traits and enhance our understanding of the biological and genetic mechanisms of cashmere traits in Tibetan cashmere goats.

Promoter Methylation Changes in KRT17: A Novel Epigenetic Marker for Wool Production in Angora Rabbit

Yang Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the genetic and epigenetic variation of KRT17, an important gene associated with wool production in Angora rabbits. It reveals significant associations between methylation levels of KRT17 CpG sites and wool yield, particularly at site CpG III-4. This site promotes SP1 binding to the KRT17 promoter, positively regulating its expression. Thus, CpG III-4 can serve as a potential epigenetic marker for breeding high wool-producing Angora rabbits.
