Framework for incorporating climate projections in the integrated planning and management of urban infrastructure

Jakcemara Caprario et al.

Summary: The impact of climate change on coastal urban areas is a global issue. This study presents a modeling framework for incorporating climate projections in planning and management of coastal areas. The framework was applied in a coastal city in Brazil and found that emission scenarios do not significantly affect precipitation and runoff peak flow in the short and medium-term, but extreme rainfall projections and sea level projections have implications. This framework provides preliminary information to improve spatial planning in a local context.

RV-DSS: Towards a resilience and vulnerability-informed decision support system framework for interdependent infrastructure systems

Donya Hajializadeh et al.

Summary: The lack of an integrated and robust resilience-informed business planning and management approach in response to interdependent assets' failures is a common challenge for critical infrastructure (CI) asset owners and operators. Interdependencies among CI can lead to cascading failures and amplify impacts due to low-probability/high-impact environmental hazards. An integrated resilience and vulnerability-informed Decision Support System (DSS) is necessary to identify vulnerable components in an interdependent network and introduce adaptive capacities to cope with hazardous events.

Moral Burden of Bottom-Line Pursuits: How and When Perceptions of Top Management Bottom-Line Mentality Inhibit Supervisors' Ethical Leadership Practices

Rebecca L. Greenbuam et al.

Summary: The perception of supervisors on top management's high bottom-line mentality has a dysfunctional effect on their ethical leadership practices, hindering empathy and leading to less ethical leadership. However, supervisors high in trait mindfulness are resistant to this negative effect and are less likely to respond with reduced empathy, thus fostering ethical leadership. Results from a sample in the Chinese high technology industry support this theoretical model.
