Prevalence and Risk Factors of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms Detected with Ultrasound in Korea and Belgium

Hyangkyoung Kim et al.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) and the diameters of the aorta and common iliac arteries (CIAs) in a Korean cohort compared to a European cohort. The results showed a lower prevalence of AAAs and smaller aortic diameters in the Korean cohort compared to the European cohort. Male smokers and individuals above 66 years old were found to have a higher risk of AAA occurrence.

Antithrombotic Therapy for Aortic Aneurysms: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Kitty H. F. Wong et al.

Summary: The role of antithrombotic therapy in the management of aortic and peripheral aneurysms is unclear. This meta-analysis found that antiplatelet therapy was associated with a reduction in post-intervention all cause mortality for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs), while anticoagulants were associated with an increased risk of all cause mortality, endoleak, and re-intervention. However, more large, well-designed trials are needed to determine the therapeutic benefits of antithrombotic agents in this setting.

Status of coronary disease and results from early endovascular aneurysm repair after preventive percutaneous coronary revascularization

Summary: This study demonstrated the safety and efficacy of preventive PCI in patients with severe CAD undergoing EVAR. Compared to patients without or with mild/moderate CAD, there was no significant difference in perioperative and 12-month cardiac adverse events in severe CAD patients treated with preventive PCI.
