CD18 Mediates Neutrophil Imperviousness to the Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans JP2 Clone in Molar-Incisor Pattern Periodontitis

Koren Hashai et al.

Summary: This study highlights the differences in neutrophil response to JP2 infection between periodontally healthy individuals and MIPP patients, specifically in terms of resistance to necrosis, ROS production, and cytokine levels. The findings suggest a potential role for the CD18 receptor in the periodontal susceptibility of MIPP patients.

NLRP3 activation in neutrophils induces lethal autoinflammation, liver inflammation, and fibrosis

Benedikt Kaufmann et al.

Summary: This study investigates the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome in neutrophils and its role in liver inflammation and fibrosis. The results show that NLRP3 activation leads to increased production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, infiltration of neutrophils and macrophages, and cell death in the liver. Additionally, mutant mice also develop liver fibrosis.
