Evaluation of different agricultural wastes for the production of polysaccharides from Oudemansiella raphanipes and its antioxidant properties

The polysaccharides from Oudemansiella raphanipes showed promising antioxidant activity. This research provides insights into reducing polysaccharide production costs and addressing agricultural waste.

Summary: A new species of Parafenestella, named Parafenestella ontariensis sp. nov., was discovered from Acer negundo in Ontario, Canada. This study showed that the new species differs from existing species in terms of ascospore morphology, culture characteristics, and molecular data. Phylogenomic analysis also revealed a close relationship between this species and the fenestelloid clades of Cucurbitariaceae. Comparative genomics analysis indicated that the species has a multitrophic lifestyle and can potentially become pathogenic to its corresponding plant host.

Whole-genome assembly and analysis of a medicinal fungus: Inonotus hispidus

Summary: In this study, we performed whole-genome sequencing and strain analysis of the medicinal fungus I. hispidus, which has anti-tumor and antioxidant functions. Our results showed that the genome of I. hispidus has the greatest number of genes involved in terpenes, providing a theoretical basis for its medicinal value. Moreover, comparative analysis revealed a high homology between I. hispidus and the fungus Sanghuangporus baumii. These findings can be used for candidate gene screening and genetic improvement of I. hispidus for higher yield and quality.
