DA-9801, a standardized Dioscorea extract, improves memory function via the activation of nerve growth factor-mediated signaling

Jin Gyu Choi et al.

Summary: The standardized Dioscorea extract, known as DA-9801, has been found to improve memory function by increasing the levels of NGF and promoting neurite outgrowth. In addition, mice treated with DA-9801 showed enhanced memory performance in the passive avoidance test. The extract also induced newborn cell differentiation and activated the ERK/CREB signaling pathway in the mouse hippocampus.

Analgesic Action of Catechin on Chronic Constriction Injury-Induced Neuropathic Pain in Sprague-Dawley Rats

Ahmed I. Foudah et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that catechin has neuroprotective activity in the chronic constriction injury (CCI) model and can reduce mechanical allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia. Additionally, the analgesic effect of catechin may be related to the expressions of TNF-alpha, IL-6, and IL-beta. Therefore, catechin shows promising potential in the treatment and management of neuropathic pain by decreasing the levels of NF-kappa beta-regulated inflammatory cytokines in the CCI model.

Dysbiosis and Alzheimer's Disease: A Role for Chronic Stress?

Vivek Kumar Sharma et al.

Summary: Alzheimer's disease is an incurable neuropsychiatric condition characterized by amyloid plaques, neurofibrillary tangles, and neuronal loss. Changes in gut microbiota composition are linked to neuronal pathologies, and chronic stress plays a role in the pathological progression of AD. The dysbiosis-stress axis may offer insights for AD treatment.
