Effective Inhibition of Phase Segregation in Wide-Bandgap Perovskites with Alkali Halides Additives to Improve the Stability of Solar Cells

Xin Meng et al.

Summary: The effect of alkali halides additives on the photoinduced phase segregation of wide-bandgap perovskites is systematically studied, and it is found that potassium chloride (KCl) is the most effective additive in suppressing the phase segregation. This is because KCl can reduce iodine vacancy defects and couple with accumulated iodide ions at the grain boundaries, effectively inhibiting phase segregation. The KCl-modified wide-bandgap perovskite solar cells exhibit a champion efficiency of 19.34% and can maintain 93% of the initial efficiency after 500 hours of light soaking, outperforming the reference device without KCl modification which retains only 72% of its initial efficiency.

Poly(N,N′-bis-4-butylphenyl-N,N′-bisphenyl)benzidine-Based Interfacial Passivation Strategy Promoting Efficiency and Operational Stability of Perovskite Solar Cells in Regular Architecture

Erdi Akman et al.

Summary: The study addresses the issue of degradation in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) over time, caused by environmental factors such as humidity, heat, and light. By treating the perovskite surfaces with polyTPD molecules, the research significantly suppresses defect-mediated non-radiative recombination in PSCs, resulting in improved efficiency and stability. The ultra-hydrophobic polyTPD passivant also helps to prevent moisture penetration, leading to a high retention of initial efficiencies after storage and operational conditions.

20.8% Slot-Die Coated MAPbI3 Perovskite Solar Cells by Optimal DMSO-Content and Age of 2-ME Based Precursor Inks

Jinzhao Li et al.

Summary: Efficiency records for solution-processed solar cell devices incorporating metal-halide perovskite semiconductors continue to be broken, with the need for scalable process technology and optimized ink formulations highlighted for large-area prototypes. The study demonstrates the importance of rational insights into ink composition and process control for reproducible manufacturing of MHP-based devices. The addition of a limited amount of DMSO prevents the formation of an intermediate crystalline phase and promotes the formation of the desired perovskite phase, while excess DMSO content negatively impacts thin-film morphology.

Perovskite solar cells with atomically coherent interlayers on SnO2 electrodes

Hanul Min et al.

Summary: By introducing an interlayer between the electron-transporting and perovskite layers in perovskite solar cells, researchers have successfully enhanced charge extraction and transport from the perovskite, leading to higher power conversion efficiency and fewer interfacial defects. The coherent interlayer allowed the fabrication of devices with a certified efficiency of 25.5%, which maintained about 90% of its initial efficiency even after continuous light exposure for 500 hours. The findings provide guidelines for designing defect-minimizing interfaces in metal halide perovskites and electron-transporting layers.
