4,4′-Dimethylazobenzene as a chemical actinometer

Lorenzo Casimiro et al.

Summary: Chemical actinometers are essential tools in photochemistry for measuring photon flux and conducting quantitative analysis of photoreactions. We propose the use of 4,4'-dimethylazobenzene as a chemical actinometer, which undergoes efficient E/Z isomerization upon irradiation at 365 nm. This compound allows for easy determination of photon flux in the UV-visible region and can be reused after reset.

Reducing the Photodegradation of Perovskite Quantum Dots to Enhance Photocatalysis in CO2 Reduction

Hanleem Lee et al.

Summary: Solution-processed perovskite quantum dots (QDs) have excellent optical properties but limited long-term chemical stability in photocatalysis. Improving the interface between QDs and co-catalysts enhances their photo-stability, and stable QD films can be obtained through specific reactions to suppress photodegradation.

Accelerated AI development for autonomous materials synthesis in flow

Robert W. Epps et al.

Summary: Autonomous robotic experimentation strategies are being increasingly utilized for materials synthesis, with the development of surrogate models and exploration of AI-guided decision-making algorithms, such as the ensemble neural network-based strategy studied in this work. Through over 150 different decision-making strategies explored in a single-period reinforcement learning framework, the research aims to accelerate materials development with multiple objectives. By conducting over 600,000 simulated experiments, the developed algorithm demonstrates more efficient material formulation optimization compared to traditional algorithms.
