Summary: The thermo-mechanical and viscoelastic properties of a new material for direct 3D printed clear aligners, TC-85, were compared to a conventional thermoplastic material, polyethylene terephthalate glycol. The results showed that TC-85 exhibited superior flexibility and viscoelastic properties, allowing it to constantly apply a light force to the teeth, reduce force decay, and maintain a constant orthodontic force. Furthermore, TC-85 demonstrated geometric stability at high temperatures and shape memory properties, providing advantages for clinical application.

Ines Francisco et al.

Summary: Three-dimensional (3D) resin medical-dental devices have gained popularity in recent years. This systematic review analyzes the release of toxic substances from 3D resins used in Orthodontics and their potential systemic effects. The current evidence is not sufficient to confirm the cytotoxic effects or changes in estrogen levels caused by 3D resins. However, there is some indication of the release of bisphenol A and other monomers from these devices. Further studies are needed to fully understand the risks associated with their use.
