High-throughput experiments for rare-event rupture of materials

Yifan Zhou et al.

Summary: This study measures the conditions for rare-event rupture by conducting high-throughput experiments with a large number of samples. The rupture of individual samples is automatically identified by processing the video of the experiment. The results reaffirm that predicting rare events requires large datasets.

A combined thermomechanical and radiation testing platform for a 6 MV tandem accelerator

Samuel A. Briggs et al.

Summary: A new accelerator end-station has been developed to conduct temperature-controlled tensile, creep, and high-cycle fatigue experiments during ion implantation or irradiation. The facility demonstrates its capabilities by inducing irradiation-enhanced creep in different materials and suppressing failure during fatigue loading by simultaneous irradiation.
