Dual anionic doping strategy towards synergistic optimization of Co9S8 for fast and durable sodium storage

Song Xue et al.

Summary: In this study, a dual anionic (N and Se) doping strategy was used to prepare Co9S8 (N,Se-Co9S8) as an anode material for sodium-ion batteries. The N doping increased the electron density of Co9S8, while the Se doping expanded the lattice spacing and lowered the Co-S binding energy. The synergistic combination of N and Se enabled Co9S8 to exhibit high conductivity, good Na+ affinity, and effective Na+ diffusion, resulting in fast reaction kinetics and stable performance during charging/discharging.

Nanostructured Co9S8/polypyrrole hybrids grown on carbon cloth for battery-type supercapacitor electrode

Xingyue Wu et al.

Summary: Nanostructured hybrids of Co9S8 and polypyrrole (PPy) were grown on carbon cloth (CC) for battery-type supercapacitor electrode. The electrochemical performances of CC/Co9S8/PPy were greatly enhanced, with a capacity retention of 83.5% after 2500 cycles of charge/discharge. The high cyclic stability of CC/Co9S8/PPy might be attributed to the buffered volume change of Co9S8 during the redox process by the introduction of PPy shell.

Surface Activation and Ni-S Stabilization in NiO/NiS2 for Efficient Oxygen Evolution Reaction

Nan Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, NiO/NiS2 and Fe-NiO/NiS2 catalyst models were constructed to investigate the effect of Fe doping. Fe-NiO/NiS2 exhibited a low overpotential, attributed to the accumulation of hydroxyl groups on the surface of materials after Fe doping, promoting the formation of highly active NiOOH. Furthermore, Fe bonded with S in the bulk was found to alleviate the oxidation corrosion of Ni-S bonds, providing long-term durability to Fe-NiO/NiS2.
