Anatomical study of the scleral ring and eyeball of the long-eared owl (Asio otus) with anatomical methods and diagnostic imaging techniques

Omid Zehtabvar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the anatomy and morphometric characteristics of the scleral ring and eyeball in a long-eared owl. The scleral ring consisted of 15 ossicles with tubercles in the ventral part. Most ocular parameters were larger in female owls, but some parameters showed no significant difference between males and females. The scleral ring and eyeballs were bilaterally symmetrical in terms of shape, size, and number of ossicles.

CT anatomy of cervical vertebrae of Asian elephant (Elephas maximus)

Omid Zehtabvar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the standard morphologic and morphometric description of the elephant cervical spine and compared it with horses and cattle. The cervical skeleton of elephants showed significant variations in different vertebral indices. The reduction in vertebral length in elephants may be due to the weight of their head, leading to decreased neck length relative to body size.
