PV Panel and PV Inverter Damages Caused by Combination of Edge Delamination, Water Penetration, and High String Voltage in Moderate Climate

Vladislav Poulek et al.

Summary: This study investigates delamination failures in photovoltaic systems in the Czech Republic under moderate climate conditions, as well as the resulting combined failures of PV panels and inverters. The findings suggest that the edge delamination defect can lead to significant issues such as water penetration, high voltage, and ultimately the destruction of inverters. Using transparent polysiloxane gel for additional sealing of PV panel frames can effectively reduce the number of combined failures.

Cooling of floating photovoltaics and the importance of water temperature

Torunn Kjeldstad et al.

Summary: The study evaluates the impact of water cooling on energy yield in floating PV systems, finding that water-cooled PV modules produce 5-6% higher electricity compared to air-cooled ones. It also identifies the U-value of systems in thermal contact with water and the importance of considering water temperature for more accurate module temperature calculations.

Hydrodynamic Analysis of Twin-Hull Structures Supporting Floating PV Systems in Offshore and Coastal Regions

Alexandros Magkouris et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel model based on the boundary element method for hydrodynamic analysis of floating twin-hull structures carrying photovoltaic panels. The study focuses on wave responses and their effects on power performance in variable bathymetry regions. Results show significant variations in the performance index of floating PV systems depending on sea states.
