Systematic toxicity assessment of CdTe quantum dots in Drosophila melanogaster

Jagdish Gopal Paithankar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of chemically synthesized 3-mercapto propionic acid-functionalized CdTe QDs on the survival, development, reproduction, and behavior of organisms using Drosophila melanogaster as a model. The study found that high concentrations of CdTe QDs led to decreased survival rates, delayed emergence, impaired reproduction, and wing deformities in the organisms. CdTe QDs also caused elevated levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and cell death in gut cells, indicating subcellular toxicity. However, co-exposure with the antioxidant N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) alleviated the developmental, reproductive, and survival adversities caused by CdTe QDs.

Zinc Borosilicate Glass-Stabilized CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) Perovskite Quantum Dots for Photoluminescence Lighting and Display Applications

Bin Liu et al.

Summary: CsPbX3 quantum dots (QDs) are promising photoelectric functional materials but suffer from poor stability. In this study, CsPbX3 QDs were embedded into a zinc borosilicate glass matrix, resulting in glass-stabilized CsPbX3 QDs with high stability and fluorescence properties. The glass-stabilized CsPbX3 QDs demonstrate superior water resistance and high thermal stability, making them suitable for lighting displays.
