In this study, the influence of slit tube diameter on crack propagation was explored using the transmission explosive dynamic caustics experiment method. The experiments were conducted on PMMA specimens with the slit cartridge explosion loading. The results showed a positive relationship between the diameter of the shaped charge tube and the length of the directional crack, peak value of dynamic stress intensity factor, peak value of directional crack growth speed, area of the crushing zone, and fractal dimension of box counting.
In order to explore the influence of the slit tube diameter of the slit cartridge on crack propagation, the transmission explosive dynamic caustics experiment method was used, and set the slit tube diameter was the only variable. Moreover, the slit cartridge explosion loading was carried out on the PMMA specimens. Based on the principle of box-counting fractal dimension, the MATLAB program was compiled to calculate the fractal dimension of the blasting crack. Moreover, the process of crack formation in slit charge blasting was simulated using LS-DYNA, revealing the stress wave propagation process of slit charge blasting with different outer di-ameters. The results show that: (1) After initiation, the primary crack growth is divided into two stages, one stage (0-130 mu s) The peak value of crack growth velocity appears at the moment of crack initiation and then decreases rapidly due to the effect of explosive stress wave and explosive gas on the crack tip; Phase II (130 mu s similar to crack arrest) reflected stress wave acts on the crack tip, causing the crack growth speed to increase again. (2) The length of the directional crack, the peak value of dynamic stress intensity factor, the peak value of directional crack growth speed, the area of the crushing zone, and the fractal dimension of box counting are positively related the diameter of the shaped charge tube.
