Simultaneous Realization of Flexibility and Ultrahigh Normalized Power Density in a Heatsink-Free Thermoelectric Generator via Fine Thermal Regulation

Sijing Zhu et al.

Summary: Researchers optimized the design of wearable thermoelectric generators (w-TEGs) using finite element simulation, resulting in a lightweight pi-type w-TEG with superior performance. This w-TEG, which does not require a heatsink, exhibits excellent flexibility, comfortability, and cost efficiency. Experimental results demonstrate that the w-TEG can successfully power a quartz watch at room temperature.

Thermomechanical stability of Bi2Te3-based thermoelectric modules employing variant diffusion barriers

Yen Ngoc Nguyen et al.

Summary: The research investigated the effects of different coatings on Bi2Te3-based thermoelectric materials after heat treatment. It was found that the ENEPIG coating exhibited higher bonding strength compared to the EN layer, and the morphology of IMCs had a greater impact on bonding strength.

Performance of Bi2Te3-based thermoelectric modules tailored by diffusion barriers

Yen Ngoc Nguyen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of different diffusion barriers (EN and ENEPIG) on the performance of Bi2Te3-based thermoelectric modules, showing that the ENEPIG-coated modules had better wettability and higher output power. Additionally, the ENEPIG-coated modules exhibited lower internal resistance.

Diffusion bonding at the interface of Bi2Te3 thermoelectric modules

Yen Ngoc Nguyen et al.

Summary: In the production of Bi2Te3-based thermoelectric modules, various coating layers were used to suppress interfacial reactions between Bi2Te3 and solder alloys. However, these coatings also led to the formation of thicker IMCs at the interfaces, affecting the bonding strength. The presence of Cu in the electrodes significantly influenced the composition of the IMCs.

Carrier and phonon transport control by domain engineering for high-performance transparent thin film thermoelectric generator

Takafumi Ishibe et al.

Summary: Domain engineering on low symmetry substrates enhances carrier mobility and reduces defect density between crystal domains in transparent epitaxial SnO2 films. Films on r-Al2O3 exhibit higher thermoelectric power factor and mobility compared to those on c-Al2O3, potentially due to the differences in defect density.

Enhancement of bonding strength in BiTe-based thermoelectric modules by electroless nickel, electroless palladium, and immersion gold surface modification

Yen Ngoc Nguyen et al.

Summary: In this study, an ENEPIG multilayer coat was developed to increase the bonding strength between BiTe-based thermoelectric materials and Cu electrodes. The ENEPIG-plated modules exhibited higher bonding strength due to the effective inhibition of brittle IMC formation compared to conventional EN-plated modules. The ENEPIG interface showed thicker and more homogeneous IMC layers, leading to fewer and smaller pores and ultimately higher bonding strength.

Friction and Wear Behavior of C17200 Copper-Beryllium Alloy in Dry and Wet Environments

Zhibiao Xu et al.

Summary: The wear mechanisms of C17200 copper alloy were mainly adhesive wear, oxidation wear, and delamination under dry conditions, and peeling and corrosion wear in a 3.5% NaCl solution. The results suggest that NaCl solution can provide lubrication and effectively reduce wear of the materials, guiding improvements in the serviceability of Cu-Be materials in industrial environments.
