Consistent optical potential for incident and emitted low-energy ? particles. III. Nonstatistical processes induced by neutrons on Zr, Nb, and Mo nuclei

M. Avrigeanu et al.

Summary: The reliability of a previous alpha-particle optical-model potential (OMP) has been confirmed for proton-induced reactions on Zn isotopes and neutrons on Zr stable isotopes. A recent assessment of this potential for nucleon-induced alpha emission on A approximately 60 nuclei, including pickup direct reaction and eventual giant quadrupole resonance (GQR) alpha emission, was completed. Consistent sets of input parameters were determined through analysis of independent data to avoid parameter ambiguities and/or error compensation.

Advanced breakup-nucleon enhancement of deuteron-induced reaction cross sections

M. Avrigeanu et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the details and outcomes of the breakup model in TALYS, as well as the enhancement obtained using the evaluated nucleon-induced reaction data of TENDL-2019. The discussion includes the limitations in directly interpreting the results of deuteron-induced reactions.

Charged-particle optical potentials tested by first direct measurement of the 59Cu( p, α)56Ni reaction

V Avrigeanu et al.

Summary: The due consideration of anomalies in proton optical-model potential at sub-Coulomb energies is crucial for analyzing the measurement of Cu-59(p, alpha)Ni-56 reaction cross section. The measurement provides unique tests for proton isoscalar and isovector real-potential components, as well as the anomalous imaginary potential and previous alpha-particle optical-model potential, for nuclei off the line of stability.

Validation of an optical potential for incident and emitted low-energy α-particles in the A∼60 mass range

V. Avrigeanu et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the process of alpha-particle emission induced by neutron reactions on stable nickel isotopes and validated the effectiveness of using the same potential in the alpha-particle optical model for describing the absorption and emission processes. Furthermore, it confirmed the existence of pickup direct reactions and alpha-emission beyond statistical predictions around the Giant Quadrupole Resonance (GQR) energies through recent experimental data.

Validation of an optical potential for incident and emitted low-energy α-particles in the A ∼ 60 mass range

V. Avrigeanu et al.

Summary: This study validates a consistent set of statistical-model input parameters through analysis of various independent data, enabling the evaluation of an alpha-particle optical model potential, including for nucleon-induced alpha-emission within the A similar to 60 mass-number range. It also considers additional reaction channels leading to increased alpha-emission beyond statistical predictions, particularly focusing on features similar to the pickup direct interaction and Giant Quadrupole Resonance.

First beams at neutrons for science

X. Ledoux et al.

Summary: The neutron for science facility (NFS) at GANIL/SPIRAL-2 received its first beams in December 2019 and measurements were conducted during the first commissioning phases. The results, characteristics, and accepted experiments of the facility were presented and compared with previously published data.

First direct measurement of 59Cu(p, α) 56Ni: A step towards constraining the Ni-Cu cycle in the cosmos

J. S. Randhawa et al.

Summary: Reactions on proton-rich nuclides play a crucial role in nucleosynthesis in core collapse supernovae and x-ray bursts. However, the Ni-Cu cycle may pose a challenge for the production of heavier elements during the Cu-59(p, alpha) Ni-56 reaction. New research suggests that the vp process could operate at higher temperatures, making it a viable pathway for synthesizing heavier elements.
