Residual effect of narasin on feed intake and rumen fermentation characteristics in Nellore steers fed forage-based diet

Leticia Carolina Bortolanza Soares et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the residual effect of narasin on intake and ruminal fermentation parameters in Nellore cattle fed a forage-based diet. The results showed that the use of narasin resulted in a residual effect on rumen fermentation parameters but had no significant effect on feed intake.

Residual effect of narasin on feed intake and rumen fermentation characteristics in Nellore steers fed forage-based diet

Leticia Carolina Bortolanza Soares et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the residual effect of narasin on intake and ruminal fermentation parameters in Nellore cattle. The results showed that narasin inclusion had an impact on rumen fermentation parameters, including the molar proportion of acetate and propionate as well as ammonia nitrogen. This residual effect persisted after the removal of narasin from the diets.

Effects of supplementation with narasin, salinomycin, or flavomycin on performance and ruminal fermentation characteristics of Bos indicus Nellore cattle fed with forage-based diets

Arnaldo Cintra Limede et al.

Summary: The present study found that the inclusion of narasin benefited the performance and ruminal fermentation of Nellore cattle fed a forage-based diet. The other two feed additives (salinomycin and flavomycin) did not have a significant impact on ruminal fermentation and cattle performance.

Effects of grain adaptation programs and antimicrobial feed additives on performance and nutrient digestibility of Bos indicus cattle fed whole shelled corn

Andrea M. Mobiglia et al.

Summary: The study found that supplementing monensin and virginiamycin in the diets of Bos indicus cattle resulted in similar growth performance and carcass characteristics. Adding sugarcane bagasse as an alternative to whole shelled corn during the adaptation period can improve growth performance.
