Single-incision cochlear implantation and hearing evaluation in piglets and minipigs

Erdem Yildiz et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the suitability of domestic piglets and Aachen minipigs as a cochlear implantation animal model with commercially available cochlear implants. The results showed that these animal models have inner ear dimensions comparable to humans and can be used for implantation surgery with clinically used cochlear implants.

Design, Synthesis, and Biological Evaluation of Dexamethasone-Salvianolic Acid B Conjugates and Nanodrug Delivery against Cisplatin-Induced Hearing Loss

Ruiqin Ye et al.

Summary: A novel amphiphilic drug-drug conjugate was synthesized and self-assembled into nanoparticles, showing enhanced otoprotection and nearly complete restoration of hearing in vitro and in vivo. The conjugates activated the glucocorticoid receptor, potentially contributing to their protective effects.

Mechanisms of Cisplatin-Induced Acute Kidney Injury: Pathological Mechanisms, Pharmacological Interventions, and Genetic Mitigations

Kristen Renee McSweeney et al.

Summary: This article summarizes the characteristics of nephrotoxicity in cisplatin treatment, the pathophysiological mechanisms of kidney injury, and the current research on pharmacological treatment options to reduce AKI. Despite years of research, interventions, and clinical trials, there is still a lack of consistent pharmacological treatment options for cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury.
