Summary: This study examined the oncofertility practices in young women diagnosed with breast cancer. The majority of patients did not receive proper specialized oncofertility counseling at the time of diagnosis, resulting in a higher rate of naturally conceived pregnancies compared to pregnancies resulting from the use of cryopreserved gametes. Adequate contraceptive counseling is as important as information about fertility and can prevent unplanned pregnancies.

Summary: The study found that over 90% of premenopausal women with early breast cancer, particularly those with hormone receptor-positive disease, were concerned about the potential risk of chemotherapy-induced premature ovarian insufficiency and/or infertility and accepted GnRHa administration. However, less than one out of five women aged <= 40 years accepted to undergo cryopreservation strategies.
