Fractal Characteristics of Geopolymer Mortar Containing Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Fly Ash and Its Correlations to Pore Structure and Strength

Peng Zhang et al.

Summary: Compression and mercury intrusion porosimetry tests were conducted to analyze the effect of MSWIFA content on the mechanical performance and pore structure of geopolymer mortar. The results showed that the compressive strength of the mortar decreased while the total pore volume and specific surface area increased with the increase in MSWIFA content. There were changes in the pore diameter distribution, with harmless pores being refined. The pore structure exhibited scale-dependent fractal characteristics. The surface fractal dimension proved to be a comprehensive parameter correlated with specific surface area, pore volume, and compressive strength.

Effects of Fly Ash Dosage on Shrinkage, Crack Resistance and Fractal Characteristics of Face Slab Concrete

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that fly ash can reduce the drying and autogenous shrinkage of concrete, improve crack resistance, but high dosage may increase the risk of drying-induced cracking. An optimal dosage of around 30% showed the best results in lowering shrinkage and refining pore structures.

Fractal Analysis on Pore Structure and Modeling of Hydration of Magnesium Phosphate Cement Paste

Yuxiang Peng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the hydration reaction of magnesium phosphate cement (MPC) paste by thermodynamic simulation and explores the influence of the magnesium-phosphorus molar ratio and water-to-binder ratio on hydration products and porosity. The results show that a small M/P ratio is beneficial for main hydration product formation, and reducing M/P and W/B ratios helps reduce porosity.

Effect of synthesis parameters on the development of unconfined compressive strength of recycled waste concrete powder-based geopolymers

Wangwen Huo et al.

Summary: The dissolution of Si4+ and Al3+ from RWCP was highly affected by the alkaline content and dissolution time. Increasing alkali content, water glass content, and L/S ratio enhanced the UCS of geopolymers. The optimum NaOH concentration was 14 mol/L, WG/NH ratio was 1.5, and L/S mass ratio was 0.4. Wet curing at 70 degrees C for 24 hours resulted in a maximum 7-day UCS of 14.32 MPa.
