New insights into glyphosate adsorption on modified carbon nanotubes via green synthesis: Statistical physical modeling and steric and energetic interpretations

Julia C. Diel et al.

Summary: This study used a statistical physics approach to investigate the adsorption of pesticide glyphosate on modified carbon nanotubes via green synthesis. The results showed that the adsorption of glyphosate occurs through the formation of a monolayer and is characterized by only one energy when interacting with MWCNT/MPNs-Fe. The study also evaluated the geometric and energetic aspects of the system and found that the adsorption is an exothermic process involving a physical interaction mechanism. Additionally, the results indicated that the MWCNT/MPNs-Fe adsorbent promotes pesticide adsorption by interacting with metallic iron nanoparticles present on the adsorbent surface.

Eco friendly adsorbents for removal of phenol from aqueous solution employing nanoparticle zero-valent iron synthesized from modified green tea bio-waste and supported on silty clay

Shaimaa T. Kadhum et al.

Summary: This study explored a new pathway for synthesizing nanoparticle zero-valent iron using green tea waste extract as a reductant and ferric chloride, as well as utilizing natural silty clay as support material. The results indicated that the polyphenols and antioxidants in green tea waste can serve as reduction and capping agents in NZVI synthesis, with silty clay as a suitable support. Both NZVI and SC-NZVI showed good fitting with the Freundlich isotherm model in phenol adsorption processes.
