Modelling minimum miscibility pressure of CO2-crude oil systems using deep learning, tree-based, and thermodynamic models: Application to CO2 sequestration and enhanced oil recovery

Qichao Lv et al.

Summary: The energy demand is increasing globally, while concerns about global warming and greenhouse gases have also grown. Injecting CO2 into mature oil reservoirs is a promising solution to meet the rising demand and address environmental issues. Accurate knowledge of the CO2 minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) is crucial for the successful design of such operations.

Chemical structure and thermodynamic properties based models for estimating nitrous oxide solubility in ionic Liquids: Equations of state and Machine learning approaches

Reza Nakhaei-Kohani et al.

Summary: The research aims to develop reliable intelligent networks to estimate the solubility of nitrous oxide (N2O) in different ionic liquids (ILs). By using powerful intelligent models such as deep belief network, categorical boosting algorithm, extreme learning machine, and extreme gradient boosting, along with two different methods based on chemical structure and thermodynamic properties, the study found that the new approaches accurately estimate the solubility of N2O in ILs, with the XGB approach being the superior forecasting technique.

New insights into permeability determination by coupling Stoneley wave propagation and conventional petrophysical logs in carbonate oil reservoirs

Alireza Rostami et al.

Summary: In this study, intelligent mathematical methods and optimization algorithms were used to calculate permeability in a low-porosity carbonate reservoir in Southwest Iran. The CMIS method based on acoustic logging was found to be more accurate than NMR techniques and can easily identify different types of fractures, making it highly valuable for reservoir simulation and well completion work.

Permeability and porosity prediction using logging data in a heterogeneous dolomite reservoir: An integrated approach

Zhao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study established reliable methods for permeability and porosity prediction in Lower Cambrian dolomite reservoirs in the Tarim Basin by collecting core samples with logging data. Through comparing different methods, it was found that combining the flow zone indicator (FZI) and discrete rock type (DRT) analysis had a stronger ability to classify samples. An integrated indirect permeability prediction method was developed using a hybrid of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and support vector machines (SVM), which greatly improved accuracy. The integrated approach shows potential in reducing the impact of heterogeneity on permeability prediction.
