Ligand-Enabled Sustainable Gold Catalysis

Anil Kumar et al.

Summary: Gold catalysis is an efficient tool in synthetic organic chemistry, but high catalyst loadings limit its application in large-scale synthesis. Recent research emphasizes the importance of ligand engineering in achieving low catalyst loadings, milder reaction conditions, and greener solvents for gold-catalyzed organic transformations. This perspective summarizes key reports and discusses the challenges and potential for ppm-level gold catalysis.

Evaluation of inhibitory effects of some novel phenolic derivatives on the mushroom tyrosinase activity: Insights from spectroscopic analyses, molecular docking and in vitro assays

Atiyeh Mahdavi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the inhibitory effects of novel phenolic derivatives on the activity of mushroom tyrosinase. The compounds showed potent inhibitory activities at low concentrations, with compound 1b exhibiting the highest inhibitory effect. The compound was found to have a mixed pattern of enzyme inhibition, and in vitro assays showed it to be non-cytotoxic. Analysis of fluorescence spectra revealed that all ligands quenched the enzyme's intrinsic fluorescence. Molecular docking analysis further supported the interaction between the ligands and critical residues of the enzyme.

Divergent Gold Catalysis: Unlocking Molecular Diversity through Catalyst Control

Chetan C. Chintawar et al.

Summary: Gold complexes have emerged as powerful catalysts in divergent catalysis, offering unique reactivity profiles due to their tunable soft pi-acidic nature. They not only catalyze reactions of alkynes, alkenes, and allenes effectively, but also provide divergent reaction pathways over other pi-acid catalysts like Ag, Pt, Pd, Rh, Cu, In, Sc, Hg, Zn, etc. Reviews documenting such examples are sporadic, hindering the further development of this burgeoning field, thus necessitating a unified approach like Divergent Gold Catalysis (DGC) to consolidate reports and pave the way for advancement.
