Combustion and gasification properties of petroleum coke and its pyrolytic semi-coke

Tianhong Zhou et al.

Summary: Isothermal pyrolysis experiments were conducted to optimize the utilization of petroleum coke. Combustion characteristics and gasification properties of petroleum coke and its semi-coke were investigated. Results showed that gas production increased with higher pyrolysis temperatures. The graphitization degree of semi-coke showed a decreasing and then increasing trend, reaching its lowest at 650 degrees C. Combustion performance improved with increased oxygen concentration, while gasification rate was higher for semi-coke than petroleum coke.

Removal and transformation mechanisms of nitrogen and sulfur in petcoke supercritical water gasification via ReaxFF simulation

Jinlin Liu et al.

Summary: The study used reactive molecular dynamics simulation to explore the removal and conversion mechanisms of sulfur and nitrogen during supercritical water gasification of petcoke. Results showed that increasing pressure and temperature can enhance desulfurization speed. The behavior of sulfur and nitrogen in SCWG can be summarized as the conversion of thiophene-S into various sulfur compounds and the conversion of pyrrole/pyridine-N into nitrogen compounds.

Effect of CaO-SiO2-FeO slag system on coal gasification reaction in CO2-Ar atmosphere and kinetic analysis

Ke Liu et al.

Summary: A new method of coal gasification using steelmaking slag as heat carrier and catalyst is proposed, with CO2 as the gasification agent instead of water vapor. The effects of coal type, slag ratio, and experimental temperature on the coal gasification reaction were investigated. The results indicate that steelmaking slag has a catalytic effect on the reaction, with the optimal slag amount and gasification temperature enhancing the gasification process. This study is of great significance for utilizing waste heat from steelmaking slag and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Hydrogen Rich Product Gas from Air-Steam Gasification of Indian Biomasses with Waste Engine Oil as Binder

Prashant Sharma et al.

Summary: This study investigates the production of hydrogen-rich product gas through thermochemical energy conversion using biomass gasification. Different biomasses were analyzed under various conditions, and the addition of waste engine oil was considered. The results show that the maximum hydrogen production occurs at an air to fuel ratio of 0.26 and a steam to biomass ratio of 2.4.

Brief review on petroleum coke and biomass/coal co-gasification: Syngas production, reactivity characteristics, and synergy behavior

Miao Wang et al.

Summary: Petroleum coke and biomass/coal co-gasification is a promising approach for efficiently integrating the individual advantages of different gasification feedstocks with syngas production. Research on syngas production, reactivity characteristics, and synergy behavior of co-gasification is critical. H-2-rich syngas and higher co-gasification reactivity can be acquired under specific conditions, such as high H/C ratio, coal/biomass proportion, gasification temperature, and gasification agent concentration. Synergy behavior in co-gasification shows relationships with free radical migration and AAEMs transfer.
