Charge-separation driven mechanism via acylium ion intermediate migration during catalytic carbonylation in mordenite zeolite

Wei Chen et al.

Summary: A new pathway for the formation of methyl acetate via the acylium ion in mordenite zeolite is proposed, and this route is kinetically and thermodynamically more favorable. The separation of reaction zones effectively reduces carbon deposit production.

More efficient ethanol synthesis from dimethyl ether and syngas over the combined nano-sized ZSM-35 zeolite with CuZnAl catalyst

Xiaobo Feng et al.

Summary: Converting syngas into ethanol remains a challenge, but a new route has been opened by converting dimethyl ether to methyl acetate on zeolite and further hydrogenating to ethanol on a Cu-based catalyst. By utilizing a nano-sized ZSM-35 zeolite and an auto-reduced CuZnAl catalyst, ethanol synthesis has been achieved with stable DME conversion and MA selectivity under optimized conditions.

A density functional theory study on the mechanism of Dimethyl ether carbonylation over heteropolyacids catalyst

Kai Cai et al.

Summary: This study investigated the reaction mechanism of DME carbonylation using density functional theory calculations on HPW and HSiW models. The research found that the acidity of Bronsted acid sites has an impact on reactivity, with comparisons of activation barriers revealing the most favorable reaction mechanism and rate-limiting step.

A theoretical study on the feed ratio of dimethyl ether carbonylation on H-MOR zeolites

Wei Wang et al.

Summary: Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics simulations were used to study the adsorption-diffusion properties of dimethyl ether (DME) and carbon monoxide (CO) in H-MOR zeolite at different feed ratios, in order to analyze the impact on DME carbonylation activity. The results showed that a higher feed ratio of CO to DME can promote CO adsorption and improve carbonylation activity, while a lower ratio may lead to insufficient CO adsorption and lower activity. Additionally, optimizing the feed ratio can also enhance diffusion and reduce the total number of molecules per cell, contributing to the improvement of carbonylation activity.
