Nanomaterial and Interface Advances in Immunoassay Biosensors

Josselyn Mata Calidonio et al.

Summary: Biosensors have a wide range of applications, and the immunoassay type has gained significant interest due to the need for rapid diagnostics, particularly in the COVID-19 pandemic. The performance of paper-based lateral flow and dipstick immunoassays is influenced by the physical properties of nanoparticles, antibody conjugates, and paper substrate. Materials innovations can enhance sensitivity, but there may be challenges at the biointerface between the biological sample and nanoparticles or paper substrate.

A novel fluorescence immunoassay based on inner filter effect and gold nanoclusters for Vibrio parahaemolyticus determination

Guangxin Yang et al.

Summary: A novel and sensitive fluorescence immunoassay was developed for the determination of Vibrio parahaemolyticus using gold nanoclusters, based on an inner filter effect between BSA-AuNCs and p-nitrophenol. The method, utilizing a double emission peak fluorescent gold nanocluster as a probe, achieved the detection of VP indirectly through competitive reaction and showed good detection performance with a detection limit of 5 x 10(2) CFU/mL. The proposed method was successfully applied to real samples with recoveries in the range of 82.5%-113.0% and low coefficient of variation.
