Effect of defects on high efficient perovskite solar cells

Sara Taheri et al.

Summary: In this paper, the organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskite solar cell was theoretically studied, with emphasis on the impact of defect properties. Results showed that deep defects near the center of perovskite band gap and high defect densities can significantly reduce power conversion efficiency. Harmful and benign defects were classified in perovskite solar cells.

Influence of back surface field layer on enhancing the efficiency of CIGS solar cell

B. Barman et al.

Summary: The research aims to improve the efficiency of conventional baseline structured CIGS solar cells by adding a PbS layer between the CIGS absorber and the Mo back contact. Simulation results show an increase in conversion efficiency after adding the PbS layer, indicating its potential for enhancing carrier collection efficiency and reducing back surface recombination. Variations and optimization of the PbS layer's thickness, energy band gap, and electron affinity were studied, along with the impact of operating temperature on overall cell performance. These findings suggest promising prospects for future performance and cost-effective solar cells.

Bandgap Engineering and Near-Infrared-II Optical Properties of Monolayer MoS2: A First-Principle Study

Ke Yang et al.

Summary: The study found that the 1T phase of pure monolayer MoS2 film has better absorption in the NIR-II window, but its poor stability makes it less useful in in vivo bioimaging. By introducing vacancy defects and doping with foreign atoms, the bandgap of the monolayer 2H-MoS2 was successfully controlled and activated in the NIR-II, showing strong absorption.

On the Investigation of Interface Defects of Solar Cells: Lead-Based vs Lead-Free Perovskite

Marwa Sayed Salem Basyoni et al.

Summary: Perovskite solar cells have attracted significant attention as a competitive solar cell technology due to the remarkable improvement in power conversion efficiency over the past two decades. The impact of defect interfaces between the electron transport layer and the absorber layer, as well as between the absorber layer and the hole transport layer, on the performance of PSCs is studied to determine the optimal value for maximum PCE. While the PCE has not been greatly enhanced for lead-based cells, it has significantly increased for lead-free cells, highlighting the crucial role of interface defects in different types of practical PSC structures.
