Isolation and Identification of Lipopeptide-Producing Bacillus velezensis Strains from Wheat Phyllosphere with Antifungal Activity against the Wheat Pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici

Remi Platel et al.

Summary: This study isolated two strains of Bacillus velezensis with antimicrobial activity against Zymoseptoria tritici, a pathogen causing the highly significant disease Septoria tritici blotch on wheat crops. The strains were found to produce different types of cyclic lipopeptides, with one strain showing stronger antifungal activity due to the synthesis of putative bacillomycin D. This research provides new potential for the biocontrol of Z. tritici.

Biosurfactant-Producing Bacillus velezensis PW192 as an Anti-Fungal Biocontrol Agent against Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Colletotrichum musae

Watthanachai Jumpathong et al.

Summary: In this study, antifungal biosurfactant-producing Bacillus velezensis PW192 was isolated and characterized. The biosurfactant exhibited stable surface tension properties under different conditions and showed antifungal activity against specific phytopathogens. These findings suggest the potential of this biosurfactant and strain as agricultural biocontrol agents and in other biotechnological applications.

Bacteria Halotolerant from Karst Sinkholes as a Source of Biosurfactants and Bioemulsifiers

Felix Maldonado Desena et al.

Summary: This study isolated halotolerant bacteria from sinkholes in the Yucatan peninsula, which exhibited biosurfactant and bioemulsifier activity. Under different culture conditions, certain bacteria showed good emulsification activity, and nitrogen source positively affected the activity of biosurfactant and bioemulsifier.

Assessment of Lipopeptide Mixtures Produced by Bacillus subtilis as Biocontrol Products against Apple Scab (Venturia inaequalis)

Aline Leconte et al.

Summary: This study investigated the antifungal activity of lipopeptides produced by Bacillus subtilis against apple scab. The results showed that lipopeptide mixtures were effective in controlling the disease, and the best composition of the culture medium was determined. The lipopeptides demonstrated promising in vivo antifungal efficiency against Venturia inaequalis, with a significant reduction in scab incidence. The reproducibility of the results was better with a specific lipopeptide mixture. The use of B. subtilis lipopeptides to control apple scab is highly promising.
