Stability on Maize Hybrids Based on GGE Biplot Graphical Technique

Seyed Habib Shojaei et al.

Summary: In this study, the effect of genotype and genotype-environment interaction on maize hybrids was evaluated using a graphical biplot technique. The analysis showed significant effects of environment, genotype, and genotype-environment interaction. The two principal components explained a majority of the grain performance variation. The results also revealed the best genotypes in each "mega-environment," as well as positive correlations between certain genotypes in different locations.

Genetic analysis and yield assessment of maize hybrids under low and optimal nitrogen environments

Isaac Kodzo Amegbor et al.

Summary: The study highlights the importance of developing maize hybrids that possess tolerant genes to low soil nitrogen for long-term maize production in areas with low soil fertility. It evaluates the combining ability effects of selected inbred lines and identifies potential parents for hybrid development and yield potential under sub-optimal and optimal N environments. The results suggest the need for developing low N tolerant inbred lines and hybrids for production under soils with low N status in order to achieve high grain yield in the Guinea savanna of Ghana.

Genotype x environment interaction and stability analyses of grain yield and micronutrient (Fe and Zn) concentrations in navy bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) genotypes under varied production environments

Bruce Mutari et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different genotypes, environments, and genotype by environment interactions on iron, zinc, and yield in navy beans, as well as to identify high yielding and stable genotypes. Significant associations were found between Fe and Zn, with certain genotypes showing desirable nutrient concentrations above breeding targets. The study highlights the importance of breeding efforts for improving micronutrient density and yield stability in beans.

Maize Genotypes With Different Zinc Efficiency in Response to Low Zinc Stress and Heterogeneous Zinc Supply

Jianqin Xu et al.

Summary: This study reveals that prolonged low-Zn stress will widen the differences in multiple physiological traits, especially biomass, between Zn-sensitive and Zn-tolerant inbred lines. Under conditions of heterogeneous Zn supply, several ZmZIP genes may play crucial roles in tolerance to low Zn stress, providing a basis for further functional characterization.

Deciphering Genotype-By-Environment Interaction for Target Environmental Delineation and Identification of Stable Resistant Sources Against Foliar Blast Disease of Pearl Millet

S. Mukesh Sankar et al.

Summary: The study identified several pearl millet genotypes with high and stable resistance against foliar blast disease, mainly concentrated in late maturing varieties. Genotype-environment interactions led to cross interactions, highlighting the necessity of multi-year, multi-location testing. In ideal environments, IP 11353, IP 22423, IP 7910, and IP 7941 were identified as ideal genotypes with stable resistance and genetic buffering capacity against the disease.

Iodine Biofortification Counters Micronutrient Deficiency and Improve Functional Quality of Open Field Grown Curly Endive

Leo Sabatino et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effects of different iodine concentrations on curly endive plants in different seasons. Results showed that applying 250 mg L-1 of iodine enhanced plant quality and functional parameters. Head dry matter content, ascorbic acid concentration, and glucose and fructose levels in leaf tissues were all influenced by iodine dosage.
