Realized niche shift associated with Galinsoga quadriradiata (Asteraceae) invasion in China

Wengang Zhang et al.

Summary: Shifts in the climatic niche of Galinsoga quadriradiata during its invasion in China have been identified. The species has exhibited a niche shift in terms of lower temperature and less precipitation compared to its native range. The majority of invaded areas in southern China are in the stabilizing zone, while the colonization and adaptation zones are predicted to be in the leading edge of the invasion in northern China. This suggests a quasi-equilibrium state in the regional distribution of G. quadriradiata.

Dynamics of invasive alien plant species in China under climate change scenarios

Wenqin Tu et al.

Summary: This study utilized the Maximum Entropy model to simulate the distribution dynamics of four invasive plants in China under current and future climate conditions, revealing that the suitable habitat areas of these plants will significantly expand in the future, with different levels of expansion for each species. Additionally, the habitat centers of these plants will shift northward in the future.

Modelling species distributions and environmental suitability highlights risk of plant invasions in western United States

Devin E. McMahon et al.

Summary: This study models the distributions of non-native invasive plants in western North America to define their environmental niches and predict potential invasion risk. The results suggest that invasive plant species are likely to expand their ranges, with a focus on the impact of temperature, aridity, and wildfires on invasion risk.

Predicting the invasive trend of exotic plants in China based on the ensemble model under climate change: A case for three invasive plants of Asteraceae

Yaqin Fang et al.

Summary: The research predicts the invasion trends of three invasive weeds in China by constructing a high-precision ensemble model, indicating that the high-risk areas of these exotic plants are mainly distributed in provinces south of 30 degrees N and are expected to spread northwards in the future. Climate is the most important variable affecting the spread of these three kinds of alien plant invasions, with temperature and precipitation having a similar effect on two of the plants while one is more sensitive to temperature.

Evaluation of the Impact of Eustenopus villosus on Centaurea solstitialis Seed Production in California

Michael J. Pitcairn et al.

Summary: The seed weevil Eustenopus villosus was released as biological control for the exotic thistle Centaurea solstitialis in western USA. The weevil was successful in reducing seed production, but further survey is recommended to determine if its population has increased.
