Eyes don't lie: Eye movements differ during covert and overt autobiographical recall

Joanna Gautier et al.

Summary: This study evaluates eye movements during the retrieval of autobiographical memories, focusing on emotion, during both covert and overt recall. The results showed that participants had fewer and longer fixations, fewer and shorter saccades, and fewer blinks during covert recall compared to overt recall. Additionally, participants perceived more mental images and had a more intense emotional experience during covert recall.

Look at the future: Maintained fixation impoverishes future thinking

Joanna Gautier et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the relationship between eye movements and future thinking, and found that maintaining fixation influences the cognitive characteristics of future thinking, including reduced number and duration of fixations and saccades, as well as reduced spatiotemporal details, visual imagery, retrieval time, and description length in future thinking. This suggests that maintaining fixation consumes cognitive resources required for future thinking.

Look at Me - Eye Movements During Autobiographical Retrieval in Face-to-Face Interactions

Quentin Lenoble et al.

Summary: The study compared eye movements during the retrieval of autobiographical memories in a strict laboratory design versus a design mimicking social interactions. It found that eye movements differed significantly between the two designs, with the glasses design showing more fixations, shorter duration of fixations, more saccades, and longer duration of saccades.

High emotional experience during autobiographical retrieval in women with Korsakoff syndrome

Mohamad El Haj et al.

Summary: This exploratory study found that patients with Klinefelter Syndrome (KS) showed lower specificity, mental time travel, and importance in autobiographical memory compared to control participants. However, there were no significant differences in autobiographical specificity, mental time travel, or importance between genders in both KS patients and the control group, except for emotional value where women with KS attributed higher value to memories compared to men.
