Sand Production Management during Marine Natural Gas Hydrate Exploitation: Review and an Innovative Solution

Nengyou Wu et al.

Summary: Natural gas hydrate (NGH) development faces challenges with sand production, which restricts sustainable and efficient development. This paper provides a summary of current research on sand production management system (SMS) and suggests future directions for overcoming this geomechanical issue. Additionally, a novel technique called gravel-huff to clay-puff replacement (GCR) is proposed to address conflicts between sand production and gas extraction in muddy hydrate-bearing sediment.

Experimental Simulation on the Influencing Factors of Sand Production in H Gas Storage, Xinjiang, China

Wei Liao

Summary: This study systematically analyzed the factors affecting sand production, including gas flow rate, pressure difference, permeability, water saturation, etc. The experiment results showed that the core permeability and stage sand production changed with the gas flow rate, providing insights into the sand production process and guidance for production management.
