Identification of bacterial communities of fermented cereal beverage Boza by metagenomic analysis

Samet Ucak et al.

Summary: Metagenomic analysis revealed the bacterial microbiota of Boza samples, with a dominance of Lactococcus and Enterococcus after pre-enrichment. Clonal relationships, virulence properties, and antibiotic resistance of Enterococcus faecium strains in Boza were determined, highlighting the importance of microbial dynamics in fermentation.

Fish Skin Microbiomes Are Highly Variable Among Individuals and Populations but Not Within Individuals

Hanna Berggren et al.

Summary: This study found that fish skin-associated microbial communities vary greatly among populations and individuals and can impact host fitness. The composition of fish skin microbiomes differs from the bacterioplankton communities in the surrounding water and is highly variable among individuals. The variation in microbiome composition is primarily explained by individual hosts.

Assessment of Spoilage Microbiota of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) during Storage by 16S rDNA Sequencing

Guangqing Du et al.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in microbial community and spoilage abilities of bacteria during rainbow trout storage. The results showed that storage at 0 degrees C slowed down the spoilage process, and certain bacterial genera gradually became the dominant spoilage bacteria.

Pseudomonas species prevalence, protein analysis, and antibiotic resistance: an evolving public health challenge

Ayman Elbehiry et al.

Summary: This study identified the contamination of chicken meat with different species of Pseudomonas, with a high incidence of P. lundensis. The Microflex LT technique proved to be an effective tool for accurate identification of Pseudomonas at the species level. Furthermore, the study revealed varying levels of antimicrobial resistance among Pseudomonas isolates.

Microbiota Succession of Whole and Filleted European Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) during Storage under Aerobic and MAP Conditions via 16S rRNA Gene High-Throughput Sequencing Approach

Faidra Syropoulou et al.

Summary: This study examined the bacterial communities of whole and filleted European sea bass under different storage temperatures and atmosphere conditions. The results showed that handling, temperature, and atmosphere conditions strongly influenced the shelf-life of the fish. Pseudomonas was found to be the dominant bacteria throughout most of the storage period, but there were variations in the microbiota profile at different stages of storage. The study provides valuable information for developing strategies to extend the shelf-life of sea bass.

Presence and virulence characterization of Listeria monocytogenes from fish samples in the Black Sea, Turkiye

Eren Gozutok et al.

Summary: This research investigated the presence, serotype distribution, virulence factor genes, and antibiotic susceptibility of Listeria monocytogenes strains isolated from fish samples in the Black Sea. The results showed that the isolated serogroup 4b-4d-4e from striped red mullet was unique to raw fish and susceptible to all tested antibiotics.

The diversity of Pseudomonas species isolated from fish farms in Turkey

Muhammed Duman et al.

Summary: The study investigated the prevalence of Pseudomonas species in freshwater fish and aquaculture farms in Turkey, identifying several new species isolated from fish and farms for the first time. Over the years, these species have spread from the Aegean and Central Anatolia regions to Eastern Anatolia and the Black Sea regions.

Best therapeutic practices for the use of antibacterial agents in finfish aquaculture: a particular view on European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) in Mediterranean aquaculture

George Rigos et al.

Summary: Antibacterial therapy is crucial in controlling bacterial disease outbreaks, but it must be balanced with factors like efficacy, suitability, and environmental welfare. In Mediterranean farmed European seabass and gilthead seabream, the use of antibacterials and the related pharmacokinetics and legislation are important considerations.

Primary Processing and Storage Affect the Dominant Microbiota of Fresh and Chill-Stored Sea Bass Products

Faidra Syropoulou et al.

Summary: Primary processing and storage impact the microbial communities of gutted and filleted fish compared to whole fish. High Resolution Sequencing analysis can differentiate bacteria isolated from fish products and reveal contamination due to handling and processing, assisting stakeholders in addressing issues related to fish microbial quality or safety promptly.
