In vitro regeneration of Piper longum L. and comparative RP-HPLC analysis of piperine production of in vitro and in vivo grown plants

Mousumi Chatterjee et al.

Summary: A comparative study was conducted on the identification and quantification of piperine in in vitro and in vivo grown Piper longum using RP-HPLC method. The study aimed to standardize a cost-effective protocol for in vitro propagation of this economically important plant. Results showed successful induction of callus and regeneration of plantlets from in vitro grown explants, with the highest concentration of piperine found in in vitro grown fruits.

Wound Healing Potential of Commiphora gileadensis Stems Essential Oil and Chloroform Extract

Hassan N. Althurwi et al.

Summary: This study compared the qualitative and quantitative properties of essential oils extracted from fresh and dried stems of Commiphora gileadensis. The results showed that although the components were similar, the amount of oil decreased upon drying. However, both samples exhibited equal potency in antimicrobial testing. Additionally, the chloroform extract was found to promote wound healing in rats, as evidenced by increased wound contraction rates and shorter epithelialization periods.
